The 4 Most Common Questions We Receive At ChiroUp

Reading time: 3 minutes

ChiroUp's purpose is to ensure the chiropractic profession thrives in the future of healthcare. Chiropractors are the undeniable best choice for patients suffering from non-surgical musculoskeletal pain. Unfortunately, not every healthcare provider and decision-maker shares this belief. Tim Bertelsman, myself, and our team created ChiroUp to change the perception of the chiropractic profession.

Why did we start ChiroUp?

ChiroUp started on a piece of construction paper after dreaming about removing all the frustrations of private practice. We all get paid to evaluate and manipulate; however, most of our time is devoted to patient education, demonstrating exercises, and marketing the practice (essentially throwing spaghetti at a wall and seeing what sticks). We were tired of repeating the same patient education scripts 40 times a day, wondering what happened to non-compliant patients, and searching for new ways to bring in new patients. We thought, "if only there were a way to automate many of the things we have to do as chiropractors to free up time. Selfishly, we created the first version of ChiroUp in 2014 after three years of software development and content creation. Our private practice has grown through achieving repeatable clinical results, automated medical doctor marketing, and a continual social media presence in our community.

After almost a decade, the software has changed significantly, but the people behind the product have not. We share a common mission, work hard, and never forget this product is to make our subscribers' lives better.

Where do we get all of our content?

We work tirelessly to be the most up-to-date and reliable source of credible information for evidence-based chiropractors. We don't cherry-pick information to push an agenda, product, or service. ChiroUp continues to harvest new knowledge to educate chiropractic providers, the public, and professional organizations with unbiased and factual information. Here are two ways in which research can reach providers and their patients.

Research Review Section

The research review section is found on the dashboard and contains abstracts from thousands of published articles. These articles can be searched by keyword or scroll downward for only the most recent articles—often published in the same month. The most pertinent information is then synthesized and converted to everything from patient education, new exercises, evaluations, Facebook posts, or updating a current protocol. We turn research into clinical practice within days, not years!

The Blog

These are our clinical pearls for the week. They are primarily clinical and are intended to provide something new to consider that week in practice. Each blog contains valuable information for you and links to the appropriate patient education, exercise, or infographic to help your patients. ChiroUp strives to provide helpful information automatically incorporated into your office flow. Reminder: The blog has moved. Check out its new location at the bottom left corner in the Useful Resources tab in the app.

Scouring the literature for credible, evidence-based information is a process. It's a constant commitment to sharpening your clinical knowledge.

Where do treatment and evaluation recommendations come from?

The average condition reference takes 50-80 hours to develop and is updated monthly. Each one is heavily researched and is 100 percent evidence-based. Condition references contain the etiology, evaluation, imaging, differential diagnosis, and management skills. Once complete, a board of directors reviews the paper. These distinguished members of our profession hold specialized training degrees or diplomates within multiple disciplines. After editing each exercise, evaluation, and activity of daily living that include movement are videotaped and imported into ChiroUp. We create all pictures, videos, and text in-house so that each clinic can use the content for their clinic without copyright infringement.

White Labeling: have you ever noticed that there is nothing that says ChiroUp on patient-facing materials, including the condition reports, infographics, and exercises. The purpose is to make sure that each patient of yours receives information branded to your clinic.

What's next?

I would say an EMR, but that's not true and quite boring. To change the perception of our profession and scale within healthcare, we must:

  1. Solidify The Product (YOU)

  2. Measure Clinical Results

  3. Perform Research To Demonstrate Effectiveness On A Large Scale.

To meet these goals, we must compare apples to apples. ChiroUp's platform will accommodate these goals with exciting functionality focusing less on a traditional EMR and more on a time management software allowing chiropractors to focus on what matters in their clinic.  Don't worry—the note will be a side effect of doing a good job:)

Did you know that ChiroUp changes regularly with suggestions from our subscribers? We regularly videotape new exercises, orthopedic evaluations, add new conditions, and adapt patient education to reflect evidence-based recommendations. Hit the megaphone graphic on the top left of your screen to let us know how we can help you!
